Since 1998

Fresh Coffee, Guaranteed!

Mercara Gold Estate is a beautiful coffee estate in Coorg. Whilst coffee was grown here since the 1960’s we acquired it in 1998 & began a process of transformation by organising it into a well laid out farm & introduced farm processes & practices that are “best in class” for an optimum yield & fine quality produce of Arabica, Robusta & Liberica coffees.

We introduced our own “washing” (wet processing) facility in 2008 to enable us to produce our own range of boutique style coffee & we practice every time-tested process to ensure great well-balanced coffee. This was a first for a boutique sized coffee estate.

I went to Mercara gold estate last week, they have a beautiful cafe at the entrance where they serve coffee produced in the estate, and locally produced chocolates, the registration for the estate tour can be done in the cafe also for Rs 300, the online charge is Rs 350 & probably Rs 390 with taxes. After registration in cafe, estate tour started. The guide explained about different varieties of coffee and spices grown in the estate, then we visited coffee museum followed by coffee processing unit where coffee gets converted to coffee powder and chocolote gets locally produced. At last complementary coffee is served. The estate is located at a very beautiful location and is very well maintained, my guide Manjunath was very patient and informative and also clicked some good photos. Overall the experience was very good.
