Since 1998

Fresh Coffee, Guaranteed!

Mercara Gold Estate is a beautiful coffee estate in Coorg. Whilst coffee was grown here since the 1960’s we acquired it in 1998 & began a process of transformation by organising it into a well laid out farm & introduced farm processes & practices that are “best in class” for an optimum yield & fine quality produce of Arabica, Robusta & Liberica coffees.

We introduced our own “washing” (wet processing) facility in 2008 to enable us to produce our own range of boutique style coffee & we practice every time-tested process to ensure great well-balanced coffee. This was a first for a boutique sized coffee estate.

Visit to this coffee plantation is highly recommended We chanced upon this coffee plantation on Google and decided to actually visit a coffee plantation instead of just driving through acres of them. Right from my first call to Shilpa Bagga we were received very warmly. Ravi, who showed us around has in depth knowledge about each plant and answered all our questions. They then offered us the most perfect coffee in their shop. We also bought a lot of authentic spices and freshly ground coffee from their shop.

Momentous and Special trip for us Must visit when you are in Coorg. you will get to know how coffee is grown and how it started in India. There are many types of coffee from plant based to animal based(Kopi luwak,Civet Cat). I should special thank Mr. Ravi for showing us through the estate with different spices and coffee and showing us through the factory how its made. Finally we had chance to sip good coffee here. Worthwhile visit We visited the place in August 2021. Pleasant weather with rains expected. We had a wonderful tour of the plantation estate. Mr Murugesh our tour guide was a walking encyclopedia on coffee, it's varieties, process of growing and extraction. He also had a lot of information on the different spices grown in the estate. It has a small shop also where one can purchase coffee and spices. We made some purchases there. Overall it was a memorable experience.

Pleasant experience The tour through the plantation was really nice and informative. The guide Ravi took a lot of interest in explaining different species of plants grown there. The tour finished with a nice cup of freshly brewed home grown coffee! The estate sells their spices at a very reasonable cost compared to the stores outside in Madikeri. Worth a visit!
